Dewson Street Public School School Improvement Goals

Dewson is committed to school improvement. If you would like to learn more about school improvement plans, please click here.

Dewson has identified four key goals for school improvement.

Achievement

We will use high-yield instructional strategies and assessment tools that give a meaningful sense of student learning in order for students to read with confidence and enjoyment as well as having foundational skills and concepts in Mathematics. We will support students with special needs in order to close gaps in achievement and opportunity.

Students

Equity

Staff will critically reflect on their lived experiences and their power and privilege in order to develop practices that are inclusive and reflective of ALL students’ identities, thereby increasing student engagement, achievement and wellbeing.

Students Going Upstairs

Well-Being

We will foster mental health, social emotional well-being, and physical wellness by creating a safe and caring environment that focuses on building relationships and making connections with one another. We will draw on the voices and lived realities of students to inform our practices and program decisions.

Children Playing Outdoor

Indigenous Education

As a school community, we will develop and build on partnerships with Indigenous Elders and community members to deepen our understanding of traditional medicines, restorative practices and Truth and Reconciliation.
